Warning: SPOILERS for FBI season 7, episode 22, "A New Day."
Jeremy Sisto from FBI definitely wants Jubal to be invited to appear in the upcoming CIA spinoff. It’s hard enough to think that any among FBI’s cast of characters might be leaving after the previous season, but it’s certainly reasonable to be concerned about that after the FBI season 7 finale. The episode left at least one character’s fate hanging in the balance in ways that would most definitely affect the rest of the series’ characters in seasons to come.
If things move forward in FBI season 8 as they have thus far, the bureau’s current staff will have to work under people who may very well be working for the enemy. The primary conflict of the FBI season 10 finale is Forefront managing to take over the main FBI offices, which means that any person signing in for a normal day at work could actually be a secret villain. Speaking with ScreenRant during an episode of our Debunking AI series, actor Jeremy Sisto speaks about whether that issue will lead to an appearance in CIA:
“This new CIA show is something that I’m hoping to be a part of. I hope that Jubal Valentine can help out with the CIA situation, but you don’t know. We don’t know if it will happen. I don’t know if I’ll get the call. We’ll see. But Jubal would love it. Alright, what’s next?”
What Sisto’s Comments Mean For FBI: CIA
Isobel Might Not Make It To The Next Season
Given the upsetting theory that Isobel is leaving after FBI season 7, it’s fair that many viewers watching from the sidelines expect this to be the end for Isobel. She played around with retiring before getting poisoned in the season finale, which is an old playbook for long-term characters. But Isobel chose to stay with the FBI because she felt like her time there wasn’t completely finished, an idea that makes room for her to fight another battle in the next season. She only needs a few more phone numbers.
Whatever happens to Isobel, it seems from Sisto’s comments that the character’s influence will remain. Even if (and perhaps especially if) Isobel doesn’t survive, upcoming episodes of the show will have to portray those closest to her as potential Forefront targets. While most fans are hoping for an OA and Maggie romance in FBI, many watching the newest seasons will be busy wondering if Isobel will come out okay after the finale. But whether she does or not, the threat against her should have lasting effects.
Our Take On Jubal Appearing In CIA
He Could Fulfill An Important Role In The Series
If Isobel leaves, FBI season 8 could still be about the new search to replace Scola’s new partner Dani. But assuming she stays, there will still be difficult decisions ahead. It may seem difficult that FBI places partners in danger so often, but Maggie’s proven that she’s largely alive because OA wants her to be. It’s unfortunate to think that the two might be taken out by any random episode. For the time being, however, it seems like Dani’s working as hard as everyone else to keep Isobel alive. That level of dedication may prove useful in the near future.
